I just decided to jump in and buy myself a Canon Rebel. Because really, if I want to learn the ins and outs of digital photography, I just have to DO it. I have so much to learn, but I love it. It engages me. Finally I have a creative outlet to balance myself with, and it feels great. I'm blogging my photos at http://katherinerobinsonphotography.blogspot.com/.
It may not be awesome right now, but maybe they will be someday. Here's hoping! :)

Ever since I've been with John, he has said that he couldn't move to Florida because of the random sink holes that swallow up whatever they want. It scares him more than anything. Then he proceeds to justify his fear by going on and on about how terrifying it would be to fall to some crazy abyss in the center of the earth.... blah blah blah... nobody falls into sink holes.... he's silly. I waste my fears on things that are much more practical, like drowning (I know, ironic because I love the ocean and the water so much) and Aliens. ;)
Anyway, this week in Guatemala City, a huge sink hole swallowed a chunk of earth. And it IS terrifying!!!!! 60 dead... so sad.
I stand corrected John, you can fear this all you want.
So Florida was super fun. There's definitely something about the sunshine there... it brightens my mood and I feel so happy. The ocean was beautiful too. We've actually decided that if the opportunity arises, that we wouldn't mind calling Florida our home. But for now, I bide my time in the Salt Lake Valley... looking to the day that I can build sand castles and smell the salty sea air on something other than a vacation. Huge thank you to John's parents, Warren and Joan who made this holiday possible.:)

The journey begins... we got up at 5am to get a taxi on time and get to the airport. We should have just had 1 layover, but due to a canceled flight... it turned into 3!!! 13 hours later we arrived in Palm Beach. Exhausted, excited... but ready to party.

We were the last to arrive... the entire gang consisted of John's parents, his sister Stephanie and her husband Thad, and his sister Jen and her husband Chris. Fun little bunch we are.

So the first few days we did nothing but beach (and some pool) lounging. No complaints here. They had random games that we could participate in... like the Newlywed (Oldywed) Game. Steph and Thad took the victory... John doesn't know me as well as I thought. He had no idea what my favorite color was and he thought I wore a size 9 shoe. Really John? lol

The next few days we snorkled, boogie boarded, visited Miami, took a fan boat out on the everglades and got about 2 feet away from a huge alligator. Our last day there, we went parasailing... it was amazing. Oh yes, and most importantly... John finished his book, 1776... in case he didn't already happen to mention it a billion times. All in all, we had so much fun... it was hard to come home.
I thoroughly realize that I'm a terrible blogger. And lately, I've been trying to do things that are outside of my comfort zone. Not that blogging makes me uncomfortable, but I guess it boils down to me being too lazy. With that said, I've decided that I will blog my heart out and write down the stories of our life. We have such a happy life together. I may as well celebrate it. I'm also buying a camera this week... so hopefully awesome pictures will accompany these adventures.
We're so excited to be taking a trip to Florida with John's family in a couple weeks. I'll certainly take a lot of pictures there. So the next post should be pretty eventful.
